Light calcium carbonate also known as precipitated calcium carbonate—referred to as PCC. The sedimentation volume （2.4-2.8ml/g）made by chemical processing is higher than that by mechanical processing, so it is called light calcium carbinate. PCC is widely used in rubber industry, plastic industry, paint industry, water-based coating industry and paper-making industry.

Applications

1、Rubber industry
In rubber industry, as one of the earliest used fillers, PCC is widely used to improve the products’ volume. Compared with expensive natural rubber, this usage can reduce costs in the meantime. The filling of PCC can increase the products’tensile strength, wear-resistance and tear strength.

2、Plastic industry
In plastic industry, PCC has a great effect on the stability of plastics dimensions. It plays an important role in improving the products hardness, also the surface gloss and flatness. In some ordinary plastic products, the addition of PCC can improve it’s heat resistance and whitening effect(Instead of expensive white pigments)

3、Paint industry
In paint industry, PCC is an indispensable skeleton part with large amount addition, which is above 30% in thick paint, 4-7% in phenolic enamel paint and above 39% in phenolic wrinkle pattern paint.

4、Water-based coating industry
In water-based coating industry, PCC is widely used to make coatings sedimentation free, dispersibility easily and gloss brightened. The amount in coating industry is about 20-60%.

5、Other industry
In the paper-making industry, PCC is used for paper filling and paper coating to ensure its strength and whiteness. In the meantime, it can reduce costs.
In cable industry, PCC plays a role in isulation function.
PCC is also used as friction agent in toothpaste.
